About the Manx Pound

The Isle of Man first issued its own banknotes in 1865. The Manx Pound is a local issue of the Pound Sterling and circulates alongside it.

The name 'Pound' is from the British Pound Sterling, to which it is pegged at par.

The Manx Pound is pegged 1:1 with the Pound Sterling. UK currency is accepted on the island, but Manx pounds are not generally accepted in the UK.

The island's famous symbol, the 'Three Legs of Man' or triskelion, is featured on its currency.

First Polymer Banknote

The Isle of Man was the first jurisdiction in the world to issue a polymer banknote, a 1-pound note, in 1983.
