About the Ugandan Shilling
The current Ugandan Shilling (UGX) was introduced in 1987, replacing the previous shilling at a rate of 1 new Shilling = 100 old Shillings, as part of economic reforms.
The name 'Shilling' is a continuation of the name of the currency used in the former British East Africa.
