CurrencyWiki Technologies LLC ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the Translate + AI Android application ("App"). We designed this App with privacy in mind — no account required, on-device processing where possible, and minimal data collection. Free users see non-personalized ads, while Pro subscribers enjoy an ad-free experience.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum information necessary for the App to function:
Device ID Hash
A one-way cryptographic hash (SHA-256) of your Android device ID. This cannot be reversed to identify your actual device. Used for anonymous identification and rate limiting.
Translation Text
Text you submit for AI-powered translation is transmitted via HTTPS to our servers (Firebase Cloud Functions). It is processed in memory and immediately discarded — never stored on disk or in databases.
Voice Recordings
Temporary audio captured for speech-to-text conversion. Processed on-device or via cloud speech services depending on device capabilities. Audio is never stored after conversion.
Camera Images
Images captured for OCR text recognition are processed entirely on-device via Google ML Kit. Images are not transmitted to our servers and are discarded after text extraction.
File Uploads
Documents (PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX) uploaded for translation are transmitted via HTTPS to Firebase Cloud Functions. Files are processed and deleted immediately after translation completes — never stored persistently.
App Preferences
Theme, voice settings, and language selections. Stored locally on your device only — never transmitted to our servers.
Translation History
Your translation history is stored only in the local Room database on your device. You can clear it anytime via Settings. It is never synced to our servers.
Usage Quotas
Daily counts of translations, dictionary lookups, and file translations per device. Tracked for rate limiting purposes. Counters reset daily with no historical tracking.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
We explicitly do not collect:
- Personal names, emails, or contact information
- Location data (GPS or network-based)
- Contacts or phone numbers
- Browsing history
- Financial or payment data (handled entirely by Google Play)
- Social media profiles
3. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:

4. On-Device Processing
We prioritize on-device processing to protect your privacy:
- ML Kit translation models are downloaded to and run entirely on your device
- Camera OCR (text recognition) is processed on-device — images never leave your phone
- Speech-to-text can use on-device or cloud processing depending on device capabilities
- Translation history and favorites are stored only in the local Room database
- 59 offline language packs available for translation without any internet connection
5. Analytics and Advertising
We use minimal analytics to improve the App:
Analytics Services
- Firebase Analytics — Anonymized app usage metrics (screens viewed, features used)
- Firebase Crashlytics — Crash reports with anonymous device info for bug fixing
- No user-identifiable information is tracked in analytics
Advertising
- Google AdMob displays non-personalized ads for free users
- No personal data is shared with advertisers
- Ads are contextual (not based on user behavior or profile)
- Ad identifiers are not linked to personal information
Pro subscribers enjoy a completely ad-free experience. Upgrading to Pro removes all advertisements from the App.
We do not build user profiles, track behavior across apps, or use fingerprinting techniques. All analytics data is anonymized and aggregated.
6. Data Retention
We retain data for the minimum time necessary:
- Translation text: Not retained (processed in memory, immediately discarded)
- File uploads: Not retained (deleted after translation completes)
- Voice recordings: Not retained (discarded after speech-to-text conversion)
- Usage counters: Reset daily, no historical tracking
- Device ID hash: Retained for rate limiting purposes only
- Crash reports: 90 days (Firebase Crashlytics standard retention)
7. Children's Privacy
This App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete it.
8. GDPR & CCPA Rights
For EU/EEA Users (GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, delete, and port your data. Since we collect minimal anonymous data and no account is required, most data is already under your control on your device.
For California Residents (CCPA)
We do not sell personal information. You may request disclosure of data collected. Since we only store an anonymous device hash, there is minimal data to disclose.
Right to Access
Request a copy of data associated with your device hash.
Right to Delete
Clear all local data via Settings → Clear History / Clear Cache. Uninstalling removes everything.
Right to Portability
Your translation history is stored locally — export or share it directly from your device.
Right to Opt Out
Disable analytics in your device settings. No account needed — the App uses anonymous device hash only.
