By downloading, installing, or using the Currency Wiki iOS application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using the App, you represent that you are at least 13 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. These Terms constitute a binding agreement between you and Currency Wiki.
2. Description of Service
Currency Wiki is a currency conversion application that provides:
- Live and historical exchange rates
- Manual currency conversion, with optional custom rates and fees
- An AI scanner that reads prices from price tags, receipts and restaurant menus, and can translate menus
- A live OCR scanner that runs on your device and works offline
- Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets
- An Apple Watch app and complications
- Conversion history, stored on your device
3. Your Anonymous Account
Anonymous Authentication
The App uses anonymous authentication. No personal account creation, email, or password is required. Your device is identified using a one-way cryptographic hash of your device identifier, which cannot be reversed.
Reinstalling the App
Your anonymous identity is kept in the iOS Keychain, so reinstalling the App on the same device returns the same account and allowances.
Session Management
Your session is managed through secure tokens that refresh automatically.
Using Pro on several devices
A Pro subscription can be used on up to 5 of your devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Use Restore Purchases on each device.

5. Subscription Terms
- Pro is available as Pro Monthly or Pro Yearly. Prices are shown in the App and on the App Store
- New subscribers get a 3-day free trial
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account and billed through the App Store
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings
- Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store policies; there are no refunds for partial subscription periods
6. Ads
The free plan is supported by ads from Google AdMob. You can choose to watch a rewarded ad to get 3 extra AI scans, which are added once Google confirms the view. Pro subscribers see no ads.

7. AI Scanner Service
Image Processing
Photos you scan are sent to our servers and read by Google Gemini, with OpenAI as a backup if Gemini is unavailable. Menu dishes can be translated into your app language. Photos are deleted automatically within 30 minutes, and the results are returned to your device.
Usage Limits
Free: 3 AI scans a week, plus 3 for each rewarded ad you watch. Pro: unlimited, subject to fair use (after 1,000 scans in a month, up to 30 a day). Free allowances reset weekly; Pro fair-use counts reset monthly. Rate limiting may apply to prevent abuse.
Accuracy Disclaimer
AI price detection and menu translation are provided for convenience only. Results may be inaccurate because of image quality, unusual price formats, handwriting or partly visible text. Always check detected prices and translations before relying on them, for example for payments or allergens.
8. Exchange Rate Information
Data Sources
Exchange rates are provided by third-party data sources and are refreshed periodically. Rates displayed in the App are for informational purposes only.
No Financial Advice
The App does not provide financial, investment, or trading advice. Exchange rates shown may differ from rates offered by banks, currency exchanges, or other financial institutions. Do not rely solely on this App for financial transactions.
Accuracy Disclaimer
We do not guarantee real-time accuracy. Rates may not be available for every currency pair and may differ from other sources.
9. Home Screen Widgets and Apple Watch
- The Rate widget and the Apple Watch Rate complication are free; the other widgets and the Quick Convert watch app need Pro
- Widgets and the watch download exchange rates themselves. Without a connection they show the most recently downloaded rates, which may not be current
10. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Circumvent usage limits, quotas, ad rewards or subscription restrictions
- Use automated systems to access the App in a manner that exceeds reasonable use
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's servers or networks
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any systems or data
11. Intellectual Property
Ownership
The App, including its design, features, code, and content, is owned by Currency Wiki and protected by intellectual property laws.
License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.
Restrictions
You may not copy, modify or distribute the App, use its content for commercial purposes without permission, or remove or alter any proprietary notices.
12. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with third-party services including:
- Apple App Store for subscriptions
- Google AdMob for ads on the free plan
- Google Gemini for AI image analysis
- OpenAI as a backup for AI image analysis
- Third-party exchange rate data providers
Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY OF EXCHANGE RATES, AND AVAILABILITY OR RELIABILITY.
14. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
- Financial losses resulting from reliance on exchange rate information
- Errors in AI-powered price detection
- Service interruptions or unavailability
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Currency Wiki, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
16. Changes to the App and These Terms
We reserve the right to:
- Modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the App
- Change usage limits or quotas
- Update pricing for premium features
- Modify these Terms
We will provide reasonable notice of material changes when possible.
17. Termination
By You
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it.
By Us
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App if you violate these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion.
Effect of Termination
Your license to use the App ends. Data stored on your device stays there until you delete it. Cancel any active subscription in your Apple Account settings.
18. Governing Law and Disputes
Before filing a legal claim, contact us at [email protected] and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for 30 days.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States.
Disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California.
19. Apple's Standard EULA
Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the App, in addition to these Terms.
20. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
21. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Apple's Standard EULA, constitute the entire agreement between you and Currency Wiki regarding your use of the App.
